The isolation means Percival is socially stunted in this almost feral way where he doesnt understand money or cities or why people lie. He talks to animals and he doesnt get sarcasm. Its played for laughs sometimes but it makes sense given he never saw another human until he was sixteen.

Meliodas was a thousands of years old demon with a complex backstory about curses and revenge. Percival is just a kid who wants to see his grandpa again and make friends. His motivation is simple. Stop dad and maybe save people along the way. The presence of the original cast like Gowther and Hendrickson as mentors feels natural. Theyre older and wiser but they dont steal the spotlight because they cant fight Arthur directly without dying.

The prophecy angle could have been generic but they subvert it hard. The Four Knights arent actually going to destroy the world. Theyre going to destroy Camelot which exists outside the world in a pocket dimension and is draining life from Britannia. So by fulfilling the prophecy they save everyone.
